CINE-SAURUS - The History of Dinosaurs in the Movies

This exhibition is a comprehensive overview of how dinosaurs have been shown in the movies based on artistic portrayals, and on the scientific knowledge available at the time. It traces the changing image of the motion picture dinosaur from the silent 1919 Ghost of Slumber Mountain to present day blockbusters such as Jurassic Park and Dinosaur.

A wide selection of historical movie posters is displayed in addition to the actual animation model used in the filming of King Kong (1933) and Son of Kong (1933).

Movie makers have drawn their inspiration from scientific discoveries and from the artists working in natural history museums. This exhibit shows how the movies have used this information for entertainment, and in doing so have reached the hearts of millions throughout the world.
